A reply to my facebook friend on the topic - money vs. happiness

My facebook friend wrote
realizes that being rich is not the source of true happiness...
I replied
that's why we need tools to find the right source(s), and we need money to buy tools~ :p

if we know what we want, we know what appropriate tools to buy. The cost can be minimized.

a worse thing is to buy a lot a lot of tools and hope we can happen to come across the source(s) by luck.

certainly, millionares/billionares can do 大包圍 and improve the probability of meeting the "sweet spot."

but from the engineering point of view, this is certainly not an well educated way to solve an optimization problem as it is too unreliable.

after successfully find the sources, we need to claim the happiness out of it. this process consumes time --- a possibly more fundamental limitation to the mankind than $$.

we need time to find $$ to buy tools, and we need time to claim the happiness. there exists an optimal allocation of time on the two processes, for maximizing our happiness.

that's how I look into the relation between $$ and happiness. It is not an easy problem, totally not!

hope we all can solve these three important problems for ourselves
- know what we want
- minimize the cost on buying tools
- solve the optimization problem on time allocation
I know I am sick!!!!! WAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA
