The network operations team is seeking Network Engineers to help design and operate Google's international production network. Ideal candidates will combine excellent networking, network management, troubleshooting and communication skills.
The Google.com Network Operations team is tasked with the smooth operation of the entire GLOBAL network.
Google is looking for highly experienced Senior Network Engineers to help grow our multi-POP global production network. If you have superb network design, implementation and troubleshooting skills, we have plenty of challenging projects for you.
Responsibilities:
- Develop scalable network designs, solutions, policies, and recommendations by working with the team of network engineers.
- Identify, research, evaluate and recommend network related tools and emerging network technologies.
- Support Google's internal application groups by identifying and presenting their requirements to the rest of the network engineering team.
- Support and lead implementation of Google's growing network infrastructure.
- Participate in rotating "on call" schedule with other members of the team.
- Provide third-tier support.
Requirements:
- 4 year college degree (BA or BS) or equivalent.
- 5+ years experience with the enterprise level network design.
- Ability to work independently.
- Excellent written and communication skills.
- Creative problem solving abilities.
- Extensive operational experience with the enterprise/carrier-class routers and switches (experience with Cisco and/or Juniper required).
- Must have superior network routing protocol troubleshooting skills (BGP, OSPF, ISIS, and *MPLS*).
- Excellent knowledge of TCP/IP, GRE, IPSec, POS, PPP, VRRP, HSRP, and SNMP protocols.
- Deep understanding of SONET, Ethernet, DWDM.
- Operational experience with security issues and access control mechanisms to prevent unwanted access.
- Experience with standard network change management and configuration policies.
- In-depth knowledge of network monitoring and other network administrative tools.
- Network certification (or equivalent training/experience) preferred. (CCNP, CCIE, JNCIE).
